About Gao Zongze

Gao Zongze began to practice in 1984, and has served as the 3rd vice president, 4th and 5th president of the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA), vice president of the International Union of Lawyers (UIA), president of Inter-Pacific Bar Association, vice president of China Maritime Law Association (CMLA), director of China Legal Affair Centre, director of C&I Partners Law Office, chairman and manager of China Legal Service (H.K.) Ltd., lead council of King & Wood Mallesons. Gao Zongze has also previously been arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), China Maritime Arbitration Commission and Arbitration Institute of The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

He was elected as one of the first ‘National Top Ten Lawyers’ in the Chinese lawyer industry and had won numerous honorary titles such as "National Advanced Worker", "Outstanding Model of the Ministry of Justice system" and "Outstanding Communist Party of China member under the departments of the Ministry of Justice". He has the honour to achieve first class merit once, second class merit once, and received the State Council Special Allowance. He has studied and lectured at Columbia University (NY), Shearman & Sterling LLP, and the law school of the University of Regensburg (West Germany). He is also a specially invited researcher and professor of law institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China University of Political Science and Law.

Expertise

Gao Zongze is very experienced in maritime law, international trade law, international finance law, international investment law and other civil and commercial legal affairs,  especially relating to negotiation, contract drafting and modification of major national and foreign investment projects, as well as in acting for major litigation and arbitration cases.
